Tracy, Thomas (b. )
Note: Thomas Tracy, came to Massachusetts as a young man. He is recorded as being at Salem, Massachusetts, and he moved to Wethersfield, Connecticut, on Feb 23 1637. He served that year on a jury in Hartford, and it is recorded that he was a "sufferer by the thefts of Robert Bede." He had moved to Saybrook by 1649.

In 1645 he and Thomas Leffingwell (No. 1902) relieved Uncas, Sachem of the Mohegans, who was besieged at Shattuck's Point by Passachus, Sachem of the Narragansetts. This led to the grant of land for the town of Norwich in 1660. Tracy was one of the original proprietors of Norwich.

In 1662 he was chosen by the General Court to try the bonds of New London. In 1666 he was appointed ensign and in 1673 was appointed lieutenant. In 1674 he was named quartermaster and commissary to the dragoons. He was a deputy to the legislature from Norwich from 1667 to 1678, and from Preston in 1682, 1683, and 1685. In 1678 he was appointed a justice of the peace.

He left an estate, including more than 5000 acres of land, valued at 680 pounds.

He was the great great grandfather of the traitor Benedict Arnold.
